The Moore The Merrier.

Okay. So. I realize it may be a foolish thing to post a dissenting opinion about a polemicist that the writer whose site this is venerates, but I am no sycophant and have my own views on certain things for my own reasons. I never have been one to believe something just because a certain person says ...

Well ya know...

"Also, the exercise of my mouth and mind in public should, I would hope, be beneficial to other folks who have not worked out all the details of their beliefs and values, whether they are inclined to disagree with me or not . . . as long as they're willing to listen without rushing to judgment....

PS:

Here's what it all boils down to literature-wise: "God does not exist" - Dawkins et al. "God exists" - Bible, et al. "Could be" - Billy Joel fans (joking) et al. There is your whole 'religious debate' (there is NO SUCH THING - for me at least) in a nutshell. Save your b...

Don't get snarled up

in hopeless pointless webs of belief or non-belief debate. You don't have to read books to prove or disprove your belief, or lack thereof, or maybe-belief. If you're an atheist, you won't read a tract by a godbotherer that will sway you; ditto if you're a believer; the only people who MAY benefit fr...

McDonald's, Ezra?

I don't know exactly who invented that place, but the name at least is Scottish. I hope it was not some Scot who decided that destroying cuisine would be a laugh; then again, you are talking about a nation that deep-fries much of its food and which has the highest heart attack rate in Europe, so any...

I think

there are elements of Lenny Bruce in there too, at least in the 'stand-up comedian' trope. Ellison and Bruce were friends at one point.

I always personally thought

that the fact the dead writer had a ghost writer write some of his stuff was the secret he was afraid would come out, but I may be wrong. Great story though.

Neither

science nor religion will save us. Nothing will. But religious nuts certainly make life one helluva lot more intolerable with their insane gibberish and need to foist their outdated uptight beliefs on everybody else, which atheists tend not to do.

Addendumb:

Forgot to mention this in my previous post. There has been a massive influx of Polish Catholics into Scotland over the last few years after the opening up of the EU, driven out of Poland because of a poor economy and high unemployment. Thus Catholicism has become more of a farcical force (cf: the lu...

Sorry

if my language was somewhat intemperate here. Stressfull day; inelegant dementia; Scottish-Irish working class breeding bleeding through; tiredness of an independent-thinking atheist in a wearymaker deluded godbotherer world; call it what you will or won't. Why can't you get a single roll (ie bun) o...
