Re: Seriously, we don't have a joke thread?

I heard a good one the other day

Southwestern Airlines is charging Senator Bernie Sanders double for his airfare back to Burlington, VT. After a long fought filibuster in the Senate, they stated that they are ensuring that there is an extra seat for his enormous balls.

Re: THE CRITTER THREAD (PETS! not "Criterion disc sets")

Wanna talk about strange pets? I brew mead, and consider the little teenie, tiny, microscopic yeasties my pets! I feed them, I care for them, I make sure that they are in good health. I talk to them, I breed them. The only thing I can't do is pet them, but then again, you can't pet a fish, can you? ...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

If our newspapers were free this is what the front page would have looked like after that last election: "Low Voter Turnout Proves Democracy Loses In Yesterday's Election." You might even see an editorial headline like "Capitalism Has Failed, So Why Not Try Socialism?" We will n...

Re: Greasings and Salivations

Doug, In 30 years, all but two of the bars, Fanns, and the Pharmacy are gone. We are working on getting a grocery in town, though a Dollar General moved into Fann's Plaza. The Theater is still there. The family that ran it for over 50 years sold it to a collective of locals. We are working to make i...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Frank, don't you mean Eric Boucher? I remember him when he was with the Dead Kennedys, and showed up at CBGBs all the time. Didn't the NY Greens nominate him for Pres. in 2000? Are you testing my radical chops or what? Yeah, that SS cut is going to come back to haunt Obama. He wasn't my first choice...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Roc, you hip to James Howard Kunstler? One of many people who are blacklisted from our mainstream culture because he has truth that scares the draculated elites. He adores upstate New York. The one who lives in Saratoga, and wrote for The Rolling Stone, and now writes about sprawl? That dude? What ...

Quick Question

Does anyone know if the info regarding the Harlan Ellison Recording Collection, and the books? I sent an e-mail to the webmaster about a week ago, and have not yet received a reply. Are these books and audio still available? Can I join the two entities, and pay with one check? I'd like to find out, ...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

Damn Frank, First you mention Chomsky, then Arundhati Roy?! You already know that I met Chomsky at the Left Forum last spring. Well, Arundhati Roy was there. She signed a book for me too! She and Chomsky did the closing keynotes. And they told me to "watch out for Frank." I think, perhaps ...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

Glen Greenwald, whom I respect as a journalist, has a take on the Wikileaks debacle. It seems that the mainstream media is at again. Lies, and more lies about what actually happened. Leave it to Glen to find out, and report back to us. Read it here: http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/...

Re: Greasings and Salivations

Welcome Rocco! Had a friend when I was in high school who lived in your neck of the woods (I'm a Catskill boy myself - village of, even.) Come sit a spell. Thanks Doug, I am originally from Brooklyn. I moved up here in 1980, not wanting to smell people's armpits on the subway twice a day. I live in...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

Barber, Though I understand your point about journalistic precedent, I don't believe that Wikileaks fits this mold. It's not a journalistic site, per se, it's a wiki site, whose purpose it to expose secrets from governments around the planet. Be that as it may, there are many sources on this site, a...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

I am still confident that Obama will not indict Assange with the evil Espionage Act, started by the odious dirt bag Woodrow Wilson. If that happens even the New York Times and Bob Woodward could go to jail. Nobody from the Times is going to jail. They are part of the elite upper crust, and will be ...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

Okay, let me chime in here. It's simply not true that the Middle Class and the poor will benefit from the RepubliCON/Obama tax plan. It's basically the Bush tax plan warmed over. The typical RepubliCON line, is that if you don't give tax cuts to the rich, they will not create jobs, and small busines...
