I'm happy you were able to let it out, Steve. To keep grief penned up is to risk our grief at losing someone overshadow all you'd been given to have them in your life in the first place. The world may be emptier right now for not having him in it, but the world is fuller by several orders of magnitu...

Fight the (unbridled) Power! (New FISA Law)

Wiretaps are bad. Some of us don't agree on this. Okay. I think we can all agree, however, that ILLEGAL wiretaps are bad--especially when the existing FISA surveillance law allowed for such easy approval of wiretaps by a judge, even THREE DAYS after the fact. Though I think Clinton was led astray to do the wrong thing in Yugoslavia (in Serbia, not Bosnia), I think he would be an excellent Secretary of State; he would be the ideal person to broker treaties and win back the goodwill for America we have squandered.

I've only been in Austin for four (very good) nights of my life, and I can vouch for Numbers 1, 2, 9, part of 12, 14, and 15. Although my exposure to Leslie (ewww) was all on Six Street. I highly recommend the bar Nuno's--saw (and drank with) Alan Haynes, a guy who came up with Stevie Ray, there--pl...

I was going to talk about the "Anonymous" link, but Alan beat me to it.

Just go here and here, and learn more.

This looks as if it could turn into something big ...

TRYING AGAIN, PART THE THIRD Obama is on the more powerful committees, which speaks to his strengths, and, more, how he is viewed by his fellow Senators. That's big; that shows how likely a candidate can be to bring disparate people together by his or her arguments, personality, charisma, character...

TRYING AGAIN, PART DEUX What annoys all hell out of me is when people start harping on "experience" in this race. That's what you consider important? Really? Well, then, why do Clinton supporters use it as a talking point? The experience that she's touting is as a (White )housewife. Grant...

TRYING THIS AGAIN Ooh, look; politics on the board with a modicum of reason! Cool! Okay; here's my weigh-ins: First off, I have been for Obama from the get-go. I've been following him since his first book, and have been constantly been impressed. If all things were equal in this race, do I think hi...

Chuck, just an aside: Before Warren Zevon got sober, he took to living in squalor--and gave names to the fruit flies in his apartment.

(Of course, this is the same guy who--also when in his stoned and drunk years--did some in-home cockroach hunting with a .45 ...)

To Peggy and to John--oh, it will mean a lot, just for him to check his e-mail and see all those good wishes. If you don't believe me, take the words of my sister (and remember, she's The Smart One): "To those who wrote comments in my uncle's blog and to those who are keeping him in their good ...

From: Alex Jay Berman (ALEXJAY1) 18:45 To: ALL 1 of 1 1940.1 <x-posted a lot of fuckin' places> You may remember me talking about my uncle--one of only two I've got--being stricken with a extremely rare form of cancer. Earlier this year, he had his adrenal gland removed, and was set to have more tak...
