Re: Copyright vs Copywrong

Hey gang I think I figured out Frank's real problem. It's not that he misunderstands copyright. Like it or not, he has the average American's awareness of the whole shebang. What I think is his real problem is that he's not creative enough to figure out ways around it. Now, before I go much further...

Re: Copyright vs Copywrong

You have an amazing 28 years to create new work, or you can do a different job. I do remember a certain writer saying that he would have been better off a plumber. And that's with the law we have now. Amazing by who's reckoning exactly? Plus this doesn't address the control of the work, all you're ...

Re: Copyright vs Copywrong

Andrew, that sounds like a shuck. I cannot deal with the view so I will say the view is crazy. We see that in our entire media. ---------- Lori, you should tell your boss to pay you on your day off since you just copywrote your job. :) And you have the nerve to scream "Personal Attack!"? ...

Re: Copyright vs Copywrong

Andrew, answer this: Who benefits more from copyright, Disney or Harlan? Harlan. As a matter of fact, copyright is what helps keep entities like Disney in check. They steal from someone like Harlan (or me, or you) we have remedies to ensure that we get compensated for that theft. That's what copyri...

Re: Copyright vs Copywrong

The same goes to Harlan, who I love dearly. His older work should be in the public domain. I dare you to say that in the Pavilion. It'll go over like a lead balloon I'm sure. BTW, it's not that we don't respect your view (at least as far as I'm concerned), it's that your view is so horribly wrong a...

Re: Copyright vs Copywrong

No body here can make a case that 28 years is not an adequate amount of time for protections. Copyright should last at least as long as the creator is alive. I'd like for my daughter to be able to have control of my work for some time after as well. You assume that once I'm old I don't get to decid...

Let's back it down, guys.

Conceded. My word choice could have been better. I apologize if anyone was offended.

Re: Copyright vs Copywrong

How is an artist being ripped off when they get a special right I cannot get? They get a monopoly control of a work they finished long ago. If some company sells a box of cereal you cannot ask the the buyer to keep on buying the same box of cereal he already ate. What Thomas Jefferson said is impor...

When it comes to how my work is used/shared? Uh... howzabout fuck no? When it comes to the fruits of my artistic labor, I get to decide, the public can fuck it self as far I'm concerned.

Re: SCIENCE VS RELIGION

You should know what it meant. No. We should not. This is why we speak clearly and have rules for grammar, syntax, and spelling. Oftentimes abbreviations and acronyms can have multiple meanings and are often industry specific but meaningless to those with zero association to that industry (FFRA = F...

Re: Robert Nason's Culture Café

What about privacy? I understand there was some unpleasantness a while back with the NSA and at some point they were discovered in bed with the Chinese. I can't imagine that it's less secure than a standard landline. If anything, it's probably more secure (though nothing is going to offer 100% secu...
