Re: Robert Nason's Culture Café

What about Skype? Anybody do Skype? I have a friend working in europe who wants me to do Skype with her (make up your own joke). Depends. I didn't include Skype because it's really just a telephone replacement (though you can do video as well as audio). We ocassionally use it to communicate with ou...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

Your communication skills suck then. I'm just saying you cannot guarantee 100 percent security. Human beings run things too. Is not what you said. This whole Secret Service kerfuffle makes my head hurt. We do not protect soldiers in the field but there should be a blanket protection for the great le...

Re: Frank Church's news corner, the sequel.

Are soldiers expendable? There is no guaranteed safety for the President. They only have that in Banana Republics. Remember Hugo Chavez? He had bodyguards but went out into the people, even the poor neighborhoods. And that guy was universally hated. Obama should not be in a bubble. Sometimes in lif...

Re: Robert Nason's Culture Café

Ezra, When all of my friends were mostly local Facebook was fun for me, but not really necessary. Now that we've moved away from everyone. Facebook has become a very good way to stay connected and in touch. I communicate with friends and family more and it's made it easy to share with everyone. I ha...

Re: Whatcha listening to?

Similar sport, different league as the Symphonic Music of (whomever) is the current proliferation of pop music rendered in the "lullaby" style that has no business being a lullaby. It's a cute idea for rabid fan parents to indoctrinate their children to the music they themselves love, but...

Re: Whatcha listening to?

Isn't progressive rock symphonic rock? Uh, some of it maybe? Just like other art forms and genres, Prog Rock runs a gamut. For every ELP or Yes, there's Rush. And Rush is hardly what I'd call symphonic even though they are solidly in the genre. You run into this sort of thing with a lot of genres. ...

Re: Adventures in Eating

Not an ounce of haggis between us. Of course not. Why would you have a crown dish of Scotland in an Irish pub? I was hoping no one would catch that. Oh I caught it. I'm just too polite to mention it. :-) Truthfully though, I think that a good time was had by all. The food was good, the company even...

Re: Adventures in Eating

I like ketchup on tuna. Yum. Okay, now we're in the twilight zone. Though, I really liked peanut butter on hamburger patties as a kid. I know of at least one '50s themed diner in San Diego that serves a burger with peanut butter. The Corvette Diner calls it the "Rory burger" I think. Neve...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Finally finished my first volume of a series of day books I intend to put together. Peripatetic is now available through Blurb as either a digital download or as a 7"x7" chap book (hard or soft covers are available). http://www.blurb.com/b/5595383-peripatetic I know it's vanity press stuff...

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Ezra - That's always been Microsoft's model. The worst part was being in-cahoots with the hardware manufacturer's (at least early on). I got off the Windows train in 2003 because I was tired of the constant maintenance, drivers breaking with every security update, and the horrible hardware upgrades ...

Doug - Which version of iOS are you running? I noticed a brief weirdness with a few other websites after I updated to iOS 8, but once I killed Safari and restarted it everything was fine again. I didn't get your particular glitch on my iPhone though.

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX

Twitter was a bad idea. The right wingers telling me to suck a dick is so mature. Idiots. What did you expect exactly? You've had access to the internet long enough to know that, by and large, the mass of anonymous 'net blabbermouths are complete asshats. This should not be news to you. Suck it up ...

Re: Copyright vs Copywrong

You guys are missing the most amazing thing about Frank's response to Mark! No not his "argument" which is rather incoherent. But he wrote complete sentences and paragraphs and shit. Did you ever think you'd see the day? Not to poop in the punchbowl, but are we sure that he wrote it...
