THREE KINGS It's an enjoyable film, but ultimately...if you REALLY look at it...it's a VERY easy sell. It doesn't take any real risks. There are few surprises. And it plays the heartstrings in predictable ways, literally shedding a tear at the end to cue its audience. I disagree. The only other peo...

Interesting.

Again, I don't know exactly what HE said on the picket line, but I do know this: John Ridley, as a POC, is a better judge of whether something is racially insensitive than any white person--even one who's marched with MLK.

Um, guys?

Do we really want to help make an enemy of John Ridley? I read his entry on the WGA strike at The Huffington Post, and I don't see anything that merits warning emails to Arianna Huffington. Harlan says he didn't see any pot smoking on the line from 11 to 2, but Ridley clearly states that a "cer...

Believe what you will, but though it may have been a little schticky for my tastes, I had no problem whatsoever with Harlan's initial statement (and apology) regarding the Willis incident.

If only he had left it at that.

Anthony Ravenscroft wrote:Stalk Connie Willis until she makes a public statement &/or shows you her .44 Magnum.

I'm happy to say, I could never stalk anyone as much as you stalk me, cupcake. (How's the writing, er, "career" going these days, anyway? Still self-publishing polyamory guides?)

I never said Connie Willis deserved anything. Please go back and re-read my post without projecting too much into it. I really don't like someone else telling me what I said, and I'm sure you all can sympathize. I did read it! Are you claiming just because you never actually said, "Connie Will...

One more thing: the notion that Connie Willis's behavior is heinous in comparison with anything Harlan Ellison has done onstage is the most ludicrous thing I've heard all day. (It's only 11:30, though--the day's still young!) Interesting. I just read and reread Keith's comments and he never suggest...

I strongly urge you guys to give it up. Not on pain of death or anything, but out of compassion. For all of us. There is no way we need to re-hash this thing again, here. Yes, Uncle Dad. (Try telling that to Harlan, while you're at it. If he hadn't made his bizarre denials on the Pavilion, I wouldn...

Huh. Why is he doing this, I wonder? Is he deluded? (Just so you know: Given the testimony of Willis's friends and various attendees of the ceremony; the video itself; Willis's comment about Harlan "keeping his fucking hands off me"; her subsequent silence and non-reply to Harlan's overtur...

Personal comment, just arrived at this very minute. I was suckered, summer 2006, by the shenanigans of Mr. Billy Rubin. I knew it was a fake name, and I even got to the point of suspecting who was the originator of that little fiasco, but made the mistake of trying to engage that person in a reason...

Interesting comments, Douglas, and I do appreciate them. But given Josh's latest remarks on the Pavilion about Janna St. James--"[. . .] from time to time I regret that I didn't pop the fat bitch in the face"--I think I'm going to stand by my interpretations. So, who do you think is going ...

http://www.wealthymingle.com/ Not saying I WOULD, mind you, but the thought of it is rather tempting. Oh, the possibilities. Not so fast, gold-diggers. From the FAQ: Q. Who is a millionaire? A. Anyone who earns $150,000 and above annually. You do not need to have assets that total a million dollars...

One may project anything one wants or expects to see -- anguish, existential angst, childlike glee, murderous rage, self-loathing, whatever -- into a face like that. True. But I believe that if most people saw that photo by itself, with no context provided whatsoever, they would feel sympathy for t...

Then, and only then, do we recognize the potential danger of this kind of activity. We all read this thing, and, thought how could someone be so stupid? But until we recognize what makes us susceptible to this stuff, to the machinations of strangers, then retelling anecdotes like this doesn't do an...
