That, I can agree with...although GHOSTBUSTERS shares the same style, and for one reason or another I've always found that movie more entertaining.

Re: Wathcya watchin'?

I am watching and loving PENNY DREADFUL on Showtime. If you have the channel, DVR it or something. Start from the beginning. It's easily the moodiest and best written genre show since BUFFY. BUFFY was "moody?" Snarky and self-aware, sure, but "moody?" Well, to each their own, an...

Re: Wathcya watchin'?

CHEAP THRILLS (2013). A subtle trend in a lot of these "rich against the poor" type of films is the lack of a revolutionary bite. It' as if the directors/writers are just shrugging their shoulders and saying, "Sure, things suck right now, but what do you want ME to do about it?" ...

Re: SCIENCE VS RELIGION

Mark, I was simply demonstrating that it's preferable to have a raucous democracy where people are free to be derisive, sarcastic, mocking, and downright disrespectful towards religions (and anyrhing else) than a society which says certain subjects are.solemnly "off-limits." Better to abl...

Re: Depression

It seems that someone like the father is adversely impacting your life. Not one person in particular, no, but I occasionally project his face onto different individuals. Sometimes it's my parents, sometimes my employer, sometimes my professor, but it always adds up to the same thing: an imperious, ...

Re: Depression

Chuck, There's a high possibility your post might have saved my life. Or, at the very least, deterred me from doing something drastic. I'm frightened of money, but more importantly, I'm frightened of those who want it, and those who already have it. If anyone else here has ever read SEIZE THE DAY (o...

Huh. PHANTASM V is happening.

Talk about being blindsided. This came out of nowhere:

If you're even remotely familiar with the series, you might understand why this is awfully exciting.

Re: Depression

I appreciate the kind thoughts, Lori, but I've reached the stage of my life where I have to justify my existence through the accumulation of stupid little green pieces of paper. Either I get with the program, or I check out. I didn't have any choice about being born (as far as I know), so why I can'...

The pendulum can either swing too far to the right or too far to the left, but it continually refuses to stay in the fucking middle.

Re: Depression

Money money money. Everything is about money. Your existence is only justified by the amount you're able to earn. As Saul Bellow said, quite succinctly I think: Uch! How they love money, thought Wilhelm. They adore money! Holy money! Beautiful money! It was getting so that people were feeble-minded ...

Harlan Ellison on THE BIG BANG THEORY?

After the shout-out to Harlan in a recent episode, an appearance from the Main Man himself seems to have edged slightly closer to reality. Thoughts?

A little skit performed by Jeremiah McDonald and written by my brother. Give it a watch if you're into good comedy. Or even bad comedy. It can work both ways.

ROBOCOP 2014 is essentially ROBOCOP 1987 rebuilt by Omni Consumer Products. This time, the real evil corporate executives are the ones lurking on the MGM and Columbia backlots.

Re: Wathcya watchin'?

The Outer Limits - "Soldier". Got a whole set of the DVDs for $16.99 (CDN). Great stuff. Unca Harlan is in fine form, but I gotta be honest - and don't tell him I said so! - I only saw a vague connection with Terminator. I mean, where was the killer robot? The Sarah Connor? The time-trave...
