Actually Jesus would be blowing under these circumstances, but I don't have the time to explain. :x

Barber, I saw your ten day, you are going to get zero rain. Droughts are bad as well, beyond the amazing weather.

Why is it when I live in Cali it is cold.

Yeah -- the drought is definitely a dangerous situation...and most Californians aren't aware of the impending doom. Too dry by far.

They may even ban watering there in certain spots. San Francisco does have some decent weather Lori lou.

You also have a one party state there--somewhat like Venezuela. Wink.

It hasn't been this dry here in a long time. But then again, it hasn't really been too WET, either. When I first moved here back in the 90's, it seemed like every year roads would close because cars would get stranded in intersections from the unrelenting downpours.

But there's something called the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, which is a long term heating and cooling of the Pacific Ocean waters. We've been in the "cool" end of the cycle for a while, which amplifies La Nina and depresses El Nino events, which are, themselves, cooling and heating of Pacific Ocean waters. El Nino generally means wetter conditions for Southern California and La Nina the opposite.

But what's hurting us now is what's called a "blocking ridge" of high pressure, which deflects the storms coming off the Pacific, and until it moves off, there's nothing we can do. But it HAS to move off at some point. I hope.

Because creeks in the Los Padres National Forest, my local hiking destination, are bone dry. And it's JANUARY.

It also makes sitting on a rock to sing folk music not as nice. :)

Duane I'll see your Pacific Decadal Oscillation and raise you one Polar Vortex. Whenever there's a weather event I think of my dear old departed Uncle Ed. When there was any kind of extreme weather he would go into his "space shuttle messing up the atmosphere" rant. Eventually you just had to roll with it because there was no reasoning with him. In all other respects he was a straight laced, normal guy, an electrician by trade. But on that one issue he was completely nuts.

Wow - everything is preserved! But the URL is different. I'm going to have to update my favourites. . .
