I just found out recently that the Democratic Leadership Council in the 90s was funded by the Koch's. Made me sick.

Here's a tidbit I found out recently. Romney's dad was asked to run for president in 1964. He went to the convention and declined to run. He was from Wisconsin. He told the GOP that they had a fundamental problem in their midst (remember, George himself was a Republican), namely that one of the cofounders of the John Birch Society was ponying up major dollars to invest in that year's presidential campaign. That cofounder was the father of the Koch Brothers, who are now major backers of George's boy, Mitt.

Mitt's dad refused to have anything to do with that element of the Party. His son depends on it.

Interesting, I thought.

Nice essay on your experience, Mark. I enjoyed the photos as well.

By the way, I like the use of Lexus as the plural of Lexus. It's like the plural of Mercedes.

Not familiar with it. Remember, I live elsewhere.

Elsewhere?

-----------

I just read that all the Military PX's and National parks import foreign goods, from China, India, the usual sweatshop dreck. With a stroke of a pen Obama could make them buy only made in America goods and create a bunch of jobs.

New Balance, is the only major shoe company to make them here. Help dem folks out.

My cousin, Steve Martinec, has killed himself. I don't know any details right now.

I was afraid something might happen. We've tried to keep in touch, but he really isolated himself. He had some real health problems, lost both his parents and was alone in the house.

I think back to when we were kids. We were all so happy then. Steve showed so much promise. So many members of my family have been crapped on, but big.

I'm in shock. Jesus Christ, this world is eating my family.

Chuck --

I am so sorry this is all happening to you (or to anyone in your situation). Just horrendous.

Be with your family. Your cousin's parents (if alive) and siblings (if any) will need it.

The world usually makes no sense, Chuck. That's why we have friends. Peace, bro.

I was with family last night. It helped. I'm just sort of numb right now. It's still hard to believe.

Oh, my God, Chuck, no. There's not much I can say. Prayers and love.

Makes our petty squables pretty idiotic. Hugs Charles.
