I was pointing out the irony in Frank's remark. I believe it's irony. It's certainly counterintuitive. Given Frank's oft-antisocial ramblings that he would recognize same in others...or seem to. Get me, Frankie?

Not that I like a thing I have ever heard Rich say in this place. Rich seems meaner than the ordinary meanie; always on the attack. But I could understand that someone might htink the same of me.

Sorry, Rick. Kind of lacked the framing reference.

I agree with Frank's sentiment and didn't understand why it was a surprise -- I missed the whole irony thing. Frank was referencing Jan's avatar of the dog calling for pizza.

What do you expect? Look at the time stamp, and remember I'm in Vegas. Subtlety thy name is not martini.

Barber, winning or losing, fearless reader?

I should have bet on the Super Bowl. I would have bet 3 points too. My head.

Have no idea what I would have won. Help me out Barber--ask at the sports book?

Keeney, I think a certain friend of yours is steering you wrong. I'm a very nice guy. Behind the snark there is tender fire.

Here, Little Chomsky, is how to respond directly to a comment directed at one's person (you'll have a chance to do the same later in the exercise):

Who tells me what to think? For crying out loud! You got that all wrong! I am a repository of self-formed opinions.

You've made over 12K posts here, podnah. I have plenty to draw from. Behind the "snark" is a strong odor of horse hooey That's what's behind the snark. No one needs to "steer" me at all.

Now you try it. Do it like your Grampa Noam would: With clear, concise, well-reasoned language.

smmooooooooCH!

But it's a strange world, and I wouldn't be surprised if you were a really nice guy, Frank.

I admire your independence streak. I also like seeing you post as often as you have. We need more of a shadow cabinet. We are the world and Harlan is our dad.

Calling me Chomsky the younger was quite a compliment. Being that my mentor is the leading leftist academic and one of the leaders in the humanities.

I'd gladly hold the flag for Neil Armstrong. I thank you again. We are both nice.

Minnesota makes em.

Up quite a bit at the moment, $350 I think.

One of our group bet $100 on the Ravens and got $260 in return, of which $160 was his winning.
