But Tim, it's lizards all the way down.

Ahhh...all lizard all the way down. Perhaps the piece should be called Lizard Road...From this point in time, people not in the know will always look for the missing lizard, wondering at the origin of the title...

You don't read Ring world, do ya Mr. Rogers. Turtles, all turtles. Which makes 'em amphibious reptiles.

I've always admired their photographers, still do. Starting out, that's what I wanted to do. Didn't know how to go about getting the gig, though, and by the time I did it was a desire past its sell-by date.

With a bit of mea culpa thrown in.
Nice! I especially like the Moon through the trees image.

Envy? I used to, until I found out how much work it really is. That sort of disabused me of that notion. That and most of these guys are photojournalists, which is not something I've ever really wanted to be.
Plus I hear that Steve McCurry can be a massive asshole. (and judging by his ads looking for interns, I'm thinking that it's reasonably true)

I've met and talked with a few of them (Ralph Lee Hopkins and Jay Dickman in particular). It sounds like a romantic gig -- and is, in some ways -- but as Andrew notes it's hella work, for a taskmaster organization with exacting standards. I'll "ditto" what Mark and Andrew say about it. I used to, but not so much any more.
(In my own defense, I've been to some exotic places, and photographed some pretty exotic things -- the difference being that I paid to do them instead of being paid to do them.)
All I need is a change of clothes, my Nikon, an open mind and a strong cup of coffee.

Not sure if I've shared this here or not (a cursory glance tells me "No") but I've been posting "Picture of the Day" images as well as my last couple of blog entries.

Nope, but I've been following along on Facebook.

Good stuff.

Started painting again, it's been 35 years...
I call this piece, "Lick My Love Pump"...No wait, I mean "Color Dogs Number Two." In honor of our two dogs Beau and Chloe - who are fond of number two.
Acrylic paint on canvas.
