For you newbies who haven't been here forever like me and you underneathers, here's the Nardwuar interview with Harlan that neary got Harlan to go to Canada and kill this sucker:

Are you STILL flogging this now eighteen year old exercise in absurdity? Especially after last time? And still with the gross overstatement about it?

For "you newbies", for the record, from Harlan's own fingertips instead of the Filter of Frank, posted in the Pavvy the LAST time Frank tried to make hay with this interview for his own amusement:

"The interview, 14 years ago, was silly; the interviewer silly; the questions and intent, silly. It didn't last long. I hung up on him because he was a silly young man trying to be clever, but badly equipped to pull it off, and in a matter of a few minutes, when I realized his intent was not to "interview," but to insult ... I hung up on him. End of story." -- HARLAN ELLISON - Friday, April 28 2006 9:22:39

I will spare Frank the embarrassment of the rest of the day's commentary. Suffice to say it wasn't his finest hour.

Dougie, yea, you are probably right. It was kind of a waste of time. Not my recent Pavvy post, which I think is one of my finest moments.

CNN will have a four hour special on the debt. No critics of debt pornography will be there. The usual corporate media bullshit.

Kudos to Obama for dissing technology the other day. "Information becomes a diversion. A distraction, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment." Preach on Mr. President.

Machete is coming soon... It should raise hackels, since it has been rewriten to mention the immigration fight. Mexicans killing racist whites. Should be the controversy of the year. You know how I live for that.

I would tell Rodriguez to watch his back. The shit is about to get thick.

Elaine Kagan has a picture of her playing softball! What a scandal. You know what that means? She must, in fact, be a LESBIAN! Pathetic.

Hey Frank

Lets see, photo of Kegan playin softball = Lesbian

So, does this mean that seeing as how you spout things without much proof, and do so over and over again, despite being proven wrong at times, make you a republican?

This is why we need to have accurate news reports.

One last thing on Kunstler. He even shocked me when he predicted in one of his podcasts that China could actually try to take over New Zealand. They are building up their Navy. We all know why empires build huge navys--commerce and control.

We are also having a water shortage. China is in real trouble on this front. They are sucking their water supply dry. Hate to be crass but this is one way we could make sure China plays nice. Sell them water..lol

While it is true the Chinese Navy is more than a match for the token New Zealand fleet, and actually is larger than both NZ and Australia combined, it's extremely doubtful that New Zealand would be their target. It is well off the Chinese sea lanes; has defense pacts with enough countries to be a difficult target; and wouldn't offer anything significant in return for the effort and international condemnation.

The generally accepted island target for any Chinese adventurism is Taiwan...I think you'll find that to be a much more creditable scenario than a Chinese invasion of New Zealand.
- I love to find adventure. All I need is a change of clothes, my Nikon, an open mind and a strong cup of coffee.

Not Ruritonga or the Celebes?
War is, at first, the hope that one will be better off; next, the expectation that the other fellow will be worse off; then, the satisfaction that he isn't any better off; and, finally, the surprise at everyone's being worse off. - Karl Kraus

Mr Kunstler needs to wake up and smell the mu shu pork. China is much more interested in Africa. And there's no need to invade.

Good on Sean Penn for staying in Haiti as long as he has. He doesn't have to. He's moody, but I dig moody. A good dude.
