Internet tech question

Postby David Loftus » Thu Nov 20, 2008 11:55 am

Is it possible to download a video clip from YouTube? My boss, the lawyer, wants to know.
War is, at first, the hope that one will be better off; next, the expectation that the other fellow will be worse off; then, the satisfaction that he isn't any better off; and, finally, the surprise at everyone's being worse off. - Karl Kraus

Yeah, you can.

Check out a website called www.effectmatrix.com. They reportedly have a software that can be used.

(Also, every time you watch a video you're downloading it, so there ARE ways to save it once you've watched it.)

On the other hand, tell lawyer-person "It depends upon the copyright of the video".
- I love to find adventure. All I need is a change of clothes, my Nikon, an open mind and a strong cup of coffee.

And you can find tons of info on how to do it for free via Google.

The easiest way I have found yet is (if you're a Firefox user) to install DownLoad Helper to the FF toolbar. An astoundingly good and consistent product.

http://www.downloadhelper.net/

It detects all media on a given website -- video, images, flash -- and will save any or all of it to your hard drive.

be sure to document your hours.

if a lawyer and a politician are drowning, and you can only save one,do you:
(A) have lunch?
(B) finish reading the paper?

i'm joking, the lawers i've delt with were fine.

Stop right there.

Just because we CAN do something doesn't mean we SHOULD. With great power comes great responsibility.

If you're gonna tell lawyer jokes, you should start a separate thread, there's waaaaaaaaay too many.
