Throwbacks

Postby robochrist » Mon Jan 19, 2009 9:29 am

Obama and Lon Chaney:

Whether or not my own fancy reads too much into it, I swear you look at these two side-by-side - countless generations apart - and you SEE features that could very well be a throwback to Chaney's family.

Note the dimples, cheek bones, lips, and square chin in particular.

Obsession is obsession.

Here are two images to compare:

Nice Try

We all knew about that already:

Try photoshopping one to get closer in texture to the other. Or better yet, morph.

Cheney ==> Chaney

Postby kevinkirby » Thu Jan 22, 2009 2:41 pm

According to genealogy, Cheney was the original spelling -- with the Chaney branch beginning here:

There is a small chance that those shared (between the President and former VP) Duvall ancestors from France also extend into the Chaney tree and thus, possibly, to the Lon Chaneys.

Or, maybe the resemblance is just coincidental. Are there any other camera angles that work with this?

There was a rather interesting thing in SFX magazine this month. Benecio Del Toro is in the remake of The Wolfman. ANd the caption of the photo from the movie stated something I had never noticed. Del Toro bears a rather striking resemblance to Lon Chaney Jr. Strange but true.

But Del Toro doesn't have the hereditary records to prove it, and Obama DOES. That goes with the distinct features too.

Six of One, a Half-dozen of the Other

There's a hereditary link to Cheney, but not to Chaney.

There was, however, this blink-and-you-miss-it thing that appeared during the CNN broadcast of the inauguration:
