Digital TV Conversion

Postby Moderator » Wed Jan 28, 2009 1:55 pm

House Republicans have managed to defeat the bill delaying conversion of the nation's television broadcasting from analog to digital -- or, more accurately, allowing broadcasters to stop offering an analog signal to over-the-air viewers.

In an unusual position for me, I agree with the Republicans.

We've known about this transition for a couple of years now. There has been heavy advertising related to it for a year.

At some point, you can no longer protect those who just simply don't want to pay attention.

Bragger.

(And you're fine. Time Warner's cable box makes the conversion for you...)

That's the reason I hurried for the "protection".

When you have something that big to brag about you want the protection.

42"? C'mon Rob, the longest one on record is only 12".....Ohhhh, you mean televisions don't you?
Governments, if they endure, always tend increasingly toward aristrocratic forms. No gov't in history has been known to evade this pattern. And as the aristocracy develops, gov't tends more and mroe to act exclusively in the interests of the ruling class

I don't have cable, and I have yet to get a converter box. How much are they, anyway?

Lori...it takes a lot of doin', but you pull THIS thing out here and stick in THERE. Then you take one of THESE out and stick it in THERE. You take the one from the OPPOSITE side and, for the moment, just let it hang. Then you pull this UP and cover the bottom. At the end of the process you put in everything else that's still hanging out.

Low and behold, you've something GLORIOUS to look at!

Ez - That wasn't the switch to digital. Jim Nabors had a bout with stomach flu.

sits in her corner content in the knowledge that I don't have to worry about all this shit, because I don't even want to own a TV, and the one available to me has had a dish for about5 or 6 years now~
