That's actually a good topic. Think of the ultimate super group pairing?

I think an "ultimate" supergroup would fall flat under the weight of expectations. If you have the BEST singer, guitarist, drummer, etc., you'd also need the BEST possible chemistry to get them to produce something greater than the sum of the substantial parts.

However, I've toyed with the idea of:

Ian Gillan -- Vox
Alex Lifeson -- Guitar
Flea -- Bass
Jordan Rudess -- Keys
Nicko McBrain -- Drums

My original vocal choice would have been Brad Delp. I would have loved to have heard him in a project like this.

I dunno if Unca Harlan would endorse it, but I'm all for it!

Oh Ozzy, just sit down your laurels already and leave the rockin' to guys who can still stand!

How'z about:

Geddy Lee - Bass

Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar

Kieth Moon - Drums

Hey I did it!

Speaking of Ritchie and Ian, there appears to be a Deep Purple Mark III reunion in the works! Blackmore, Gillan, Hughes and Lord have committed, and Lars Ulrich of Metallica will do the drums (Ian Paice declined, since the current Deep Purple is still active and touring).

DP3's albums are Burn and Stormbringer.

Kieth Moon's kind of dead. Blackmore tends to eat everyone else up alive.

I don't see anything about Gillan in this one.

If they did this with Ulrich, there would be two Deep Purple's floating about. . .that's what you get with Revolving door lineups!
