If you haven't seen the documentary "Festival Express," there's a great opportunity to see Janis (and other terrific performers from the Sixties) in action. Here's my review of the film:

War is, at first, the hope that one will be better off; next, the expectation that the other fellow will be worse off; then, the satisfaction that he isn't any better off; and, finally, the surprise at everyone's being worse off. - Karl Kraus

The first Lallapalooza, it seems. Good going there, David, beyond the Fahrenheit 9/11 shot. A bit unfair there, since music docs are quite different than political ones, as they have different audiences as well as different points.

I have my problems with Mikes movie, but that would be thread drift.

I haven't found a lot of footage of Vince Guaraldi in action at the keys - so I was tickled to find this clip of his trio playing with Ben Webster; definitely a different side of Dr. Funk's skills on display.

Cynic - Amy (akojen) once of these parts introduced me to the music of Preston Reed; I managed to see him on a stop at Jammin' Java in Vienna, VA a few years back. Jaw-dropping is a spot-on descriptor.

Mike, you just don't recognize her. She had a hit a few years ago:
