Have to disagree with you there. I don't believe Curran would have made a believable, or effective antagonist. Even if the script did try to make a villian out of him, any effort would have fallen flat on its face. Like Bedzyk said, he's just a weak, obesiant lapdog. Besides, whatever arrogance or ego Curran might have had before arriving on the Gulag was pretty much slammed out of him by the infection.
Nope, the REAL antagonists of the story are the faceless masses who remain untouched and unaffected by the events of the tale. We're all in such a hurry to cite Hitler as the man responsible for the greatest evil of the 20th century, we quickly forget the vast numbers of people who helped him to accomplish it.[/i]
