Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX
Are you indicating that you jumped up and down about an article that you somehow can't/didn't actually read?

Doug, email the reporter and tell us what he says. Foreign Policy magazine is the leading journal of elites on that issue. They are certainly no leftists and probably loath Noam Chomsky politically.
Noam himself has been fairly blase about the whole thing.
Two things Frank, if Dr. Chomsky isn't pitching a fit why are you? It affects him much more than its does you.
And you really need to learn how to Google. I managed to find the FP article you wanted
http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts ... am_chomsky
I also managed to read it for free...
Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX
The other files on Chomsky could have been destroyed.
You mean the one where Chomsky was sighted on the Grassy Knoll in '63?
Frank I really do hate to break this to you but living like I do here in Your Nation's Capital I will tell you that I do know a couple actual spooks (and even a couple reporters
). Now don't get the wrong idea. The spooks have never revealed anything to me that they shouldn'ta oughta but we have had some interesting conversations and well, let's just say I'm pretty good at reading between the lines and taking a hint. Public Intellectuals like Chomsky are the last people the CIA would waste their time following about with any degree of seriousness. Why? Because if you want to know what they think you can just just watch their speeches on YouTube or read their friggin books. You highly overvalue the threat that Chomsky actually poses to anyone. Folks like Chomsky can't be bothered to come down out of their ivory towers long enough to actually do anything and the CIA loses no sleep. Sorry.

I will await the authors response since I have seen critical insights on what he reported and Foreign Policy magazine is pretty good.
Doug probably misread something.
---------
Diane, thank the left. Without them--I am not counting myself--we would be in a fascist state. Email Noamie, tell him thank you.
----------
Ezra, so informed. You did know that Chomsky almost did a long stretch in prison for his activities in the 60s. Luckily the Tet Offensive changed everything.
Chomsky doesn't even allow police escorts so, he is not worried.
We worry about the poor muslim guy who will be punished here with the NSA crap. Far more important. Just thought it was a neat story to talk about since it was ironic coming a day after our lovely skirmish over the same memes.

At least Doug read something in the first place.
Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX
Well I head out in the morning for some vacating on the beach for a few days. No laptop so no posts for at least a week. I will have my copy of 7 AGAINST CHAOS still in its shrink wrap, unread, waiting.
So just one question friends. Is it going to make me cry?

Have a great and safe trip, Ezra. Read, lounge think.
Reminds me of a thing I saw written the other day.
"People ask me what I'm doing on my day off, and I tell them 'nothing'. Then they start to suggest things to do. No, I explain, you don't get it. I purposefully set aside my day off so that I could specifically do 'nothing'.
Enjoy.

The medium is the message.

Texas is so fucking weird you can find something to do there. They have vast different climes, not as nice as Cali, but no earthquakes.
Rick Perry's a dick, but you knew that.

Hey Ezra, have a great time.
Frank, Frank is a great name. St. Francis, FDR, Frank Sinatra. (Ssshhh , don't tell Harlan I said that). Be proud. It took me a long time to like my name, but now I can't imagine any other one. lol

No earthquakes in TX, but they DO have hurricanes and tornadoes. A lot more of them than we have earthquakes.
They also have humidity and much shorter mountains than we do. Show me something, anything, to compare with Big Sur and we can talk.
No offense meant to Texans who understandably love their state. Texas can boast some pretty cool cities (Dallas, Austin and San Antonio) but there's really no comparison from a geological standpoint.

Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX
Barber - that you left my city out - my city which, in addition to being the fourth largest in the US, has a multitude of the cool and the classy - and is far more engaging than that dry-hump to the north where they shoot presidents - wounds me.
Just sayin'.
Just sayin'.
Re: THE PAVILION ANNEX
Doug
You mean that city north of Galveston and east of Kady? Named for a street in New York City (though admittedly mispronounced -- maybe a drawl version?)?
You mean Texas' "LA"?
That city?
I thought it was the weigh station between Nawlins and San Antone. Suburb of Austin, so to speak. No?
My bad.
